Hello everyone! I am happy to be participating in the Back To School Blog Tour for Simple Life Pattern Company.
It is so rare that I can say that I have sewn almost every pattern by a pattern company but I can honestly say that there are less than 5 patterns I have not tried!
So when I picked the topic of holiday concerts in the back to school theme, I flipped though all of my favorites. And I remembered one of my favorite patterns that my now “big” girl loved! Ruby’s Ruffle A-line Top and Dress is just perfect for this situation! I tested this pattern and made my daughter the long sleeved shirt version. (Which I paired with Penny’s Pencil Skirt in this picture)
Since this picture was taken the Baby Fashionista has decided that she doesn’t like ruffles or long sleeves so now everything has short sleeves despite the season they are for. The only real concert at my children’s school is the Holiday Concert right before winter break. And despite my best efforts, I have yet to get a dress made for the concert. So this blog tour was the perfect reason to get wayyyyyy ahead this year.
So I was able to please the picky one and give her the reindeer fabric she fell in love with, short sleeves and a dress that looks like it for big girls!
The front panel is the perfect opportunity to add a pop of color with a ruffle, snaps or buttons. And the A-line skirt option goes together so quickly it will make your head spin!
Now if only I could get her to not grow before Christmas and pass on the Christmas leggings that don’t quite match… any tips? Head over to the SLPCo facebook group and check out all the fun we are having over there! And stick around for the rest of the tour! These ladies are phenomenal and the best is yet to come!
As always, thank you for reading my post. I truly appreciate you giving me your time! Please take advantage of the rafflecopter giveaway and link up your SLPCo creations! I can’t wait to see what everyone is sewing for school! Thanks to Eleri for being a great tour moderator and organizing this for us!

Love it! That print is adorable. I am hoping my daughter still fits in her dress by Christmas too!

Essence, this is adorable! I always love seeing your creations! Thanks for kicking off our tour with such a fun outfit!
That’s the reason I never sew ahead for my children! They grow like weeds! Whenever something is “grown out” or usually something Grandma’s bought that I hate with a fiery passion, I sneak it downstairs and then when my kid asks about it I say, “oh, it must still be in the dirty laundry…..” It usually does the trick. LOL Your daughter does have one of the most beautiful and infectious smiles!
Fantastic dress! It must feel awesome to get ahead like this!
