One Thimble Issue 15

Hello everyone!!! I am back again with one of my favorite blog posts to share.  I don’t really read too many magazines these days but there is one e-zine in particular that always catches my attention.  And I love to share the best news with you guys.  So today is my review of One Thimble’s newest issue… Issue 15!

Seeing as how I am about 11 days postpartum, I will be taking advantage of some of the articles that are geared towards getting your best fit.  All mothers know about the ever changing nature of our bodies, especially after childbirth! So I hope to be the fashionista I was born to be soon! But what to sew for the blog tour was not such an easy decision…. I was not sure of the arrival date of my fiery little one, Phoenix and Bug is rapidly approaching that tween stage where she is too big for girls and too small for women’s so we have to do quite a few adjustments.

First, I knew that I just had to make the Hipster Bear from the amazing creator over at Swoodson Says!  I love her toys and stuffies and I always feel so proud of myself when I finish!  This one was intended to have a more “girly” vibe and so I let my daughter pick out some appropriate fabrics.
Isn’t she so cute in her modeling debut? Obviously I need to practice my low light shooting since she is a night owl! However, I originally decided to make this bear for my little Nugget but seeing as how Bug has a birthday soon, she claimed it… but I can definitely make more!
This pattern was quick and easy and adorable.  There is even an option to give your bear a pair of glasses!!! How trendy and cool is this guy?!? I should have used a darker color for the facial features but the intended recipient is in love so who am I to complain?
Next, I sewed up the Military Messenger bag from Fabulous Home Sewn!  This is another designer I know I can always count on to give me a wonderful finished product!  I fell in love with the asymmetrical front pocket option and knew it would be a wonderful bag for my new Big Sister to haul her stuff around on our summer adventures! (Or maybe Mom… if I can squirrel it away from her!)

This pattern also came together very quickly and was super easy to assemble! I will probably make another for my favorite Boy Scout to haul his little objects around while camping and hiking. And I NEED to invest in some webbing for my stash because I lost the intended material among to mess that is all of my stuff. Luckily, there is an option to make your own strap!

So what will I sew next you ask?  I am not sure… I am considering trying to make the Metro Slimfit Blazer for Bug since we have a few nice events this summer and she is more into pants than dresses this month… but maybe I can crank out a Pom Pom Beret for my newest little model?  Watch for her more on the blog as she manages to keep her eyes open a little more often!

Thank you so much to the wonderful contributors to this issue!

And of course to the incredibly talented creator of One Thimble… Jen Kennedy! She is such an amazing woman I don’t know when she has time to sleep! Thank you for letting us bloggers sew up these patterns and contributing to the sewing community in such a huge way!

And I can’t forget Sarah! She is another world-changing woman! I can’t imagine the stress of running a blog tour but she runs multiple tours, contributes over at Pattern Revolution and still manages not to fuss at us when we are spacey! I am honored to simply know her and I hope to continue working with her!

And thank you to my tourmates! Check them all out because they are awesome! And thank you to all of you for reading my musings and looking at my creations!  Stop by again soon and see what is going on!
