Hey guys! I am going to tell you guys about a cool hobby of mine… upcycling! If you don’t know what that is… it is creating a new item from an older item. I love making new shirts for my kids out of my old ones! But today I decided to challenge myself and make and ones! But today I decided to challenge myself and make an upcycle for me! So I joined the Sisboom Pattern Company blog tour and went looking for a suitable dress.
I LOVE Sisboom patterns! The first best thing… (grammar is a thing) is that they are so easily customizable. They adjust with little to no effort for height, width and even cup size. I can always count on getting a good fit!
I went to my local thrift store and scoured for a great fabric that didn’t make me look strange and I came across what I think was a curtain and some point in the past? But the greens and blues are totally beach-ready so I grabbed it for less than $2! Adding in the half yard of chevron I scored at Walmart and I officially have a $3 maxi dress!
So I chose the Jenny dress for my upcycle because I love to have a long maxi dress for the beach trips. And at 6 feet tall, dresses do not puddle at my feet the way I want them too. But with the easy instructions I was able to overshoot my length goals! Haha but I am “tall girl” happy about it and I may take it up another inch or I may not!
I love this pattern! And I didn’t even curse at the side zipper… very much! I am entertaining using a knit for the top and doing a shorter length for another cute version of this dress! Or try one of the sleeve options!
I can’t wait to upcycle something else! Thank you so much for checking me out! Head over to Facebook group for more posts, patterns, upcycles and inspiration! And upcycle something yourself! Give new life to an old item!
I looove this!!! Totally beach ready! I’d love to see a knit top one too though. I hope you blog about it if you try it!

Looks like some you might find at a highend shop. Nicest looking $3 dress I’ve ever seen.
