Hey everyone! I am here for the Sew Back 2 School Tour!!!!
I love Back To School sewing! And shopping…. and generally sending my kids back to school. But this year was especially exciting because I also sent my baby off to daycare and myself off to work again after my maternity period! The school my children attend this year has a uniform policy so most of the mommy-made outfits have been demoted to weekenders but never fear… I can sew for myself again!
Generally, we have to wear business casual to work but occasionally we participate in the Casual Friday concept. So I wanted an outfit that would work in multiple ways. (Read that as I am getting closer to a capsule wardrobe!) With Autumn and Winter bearing down on us the first item I picked was the Jalie Cocoon Cardigan. Ohmygosh! I had never sewn a Jalie pattern before and I am over the moon! The fit was great! And the best part was this pattern has girls and women’s sizing! So I can use it over and over again!
Next, I decided to go with the Jalie 2920 – Leggings, Stirrup Tights, and Miniskirt. Although I decided to skip the stirrups and the skirt portion, this pattern was amazing as well. I am not sure that I would look good with the miniskirt on but who knows? I may have an occasion to wear one! With so much “junk in the trunk” I often have a problem with leggings and having to eternally hoist them back into position. These were perfect for me and comfortable as well. And they also had the huge size range! I can smell Mommy/Daughter outfits in the future!
Now I know you are all looking at the length of my leggings… yes, my giant-ism played a part here and it is in no way Jalie’s fault! The pattern was very informative on lengthening both the cardigan and leggings but I chose not to because I like the shorter pants length to wear with boots during the fall!
So the moral of the story is: Buy all the Jalie patterns and sew them up!” I know I will be doing that in the coming months! And eventually, I will have a whole new wardrobe! And head over to the Jalie group! I joined myself and these are some talented people and I am in awe!
Well that is it for me today but don’t run off without clicking on the links below! These other tour members are so talented and creative I can hardly believe it! And to the wonderful tour organizers: This has to be a thankless and tiresome job so let me thank you and feel honored to participate! Thank you all for reading and please come back soon! I think I will have something else for you really soon!
