Make Laundry, Don’t Do Laundry Blog Tour

Hi everyone! Today is my day to blog in a fun and creative tour entitled Make Laundry, Don’t Do Laundry. So Welcome!

Since I learned to sew, there has been this nagging feeling that sewing is the solution to all of my wardrobe related problems.  Winter sweaters are tucked away in the attic?  I will just make more.  Children outgrew their jeans? I will make them some more.  And of course, it is time for laundry so I will just whip together a tried and true quickie!
Well for this tour, I decided to abandon my tried and true to stretch my wings and do something different.  I chose to sew up the Lady Hazel Top by George and Ginger Patterns. Now, like everyone else I own wayyyyyy more patterns than I can probably ever sew up and I bought the open back collection when it was released but I have yet to sew one up.  So this was my first experience with George and Ginger! And I used my Hancock discount fabric find!
I love this top. Since this was a “fresh sew” for me, I took my time and this took me a little over an hour. Admittedly, I cheated a little and used single fold bias tape to finish my armsyces.  The directions had great finishing instructions but I was a little frustrated with my slippery fabric and ready to rock my new shirt.
Even at my height, this shirt was a comfortable fit.  I am alllll the way at the top of the size range for this one so I will have to stay motivated to work out so I can sew all the G&G Patterns for myself!
