One Thimble Issue 12

Hello everyone! I know I was just here yesterday but I am back again!  I am always super surprised when people ask me to participate in blog tours but this one really has me floored! One Thimble just released Issue 12 and it is packed full of amazing patterns, articles and more!  If you are not familiar with One Thimble, you have obviously been under a rock! No just kidding… it is an awesome sewing magazine released by the awe-inspiring Jen Kennedy! It is stuffed full of 10 patterns and 25 articles/tutorials/interviews. (Disclaimer: I was given the patterns I reviewed in this post in exchange for my honest opinion and description. Also affiliate links because my husband will leave me if I keep up the fabric shopping like I do.) But look at these amazing patterns in this new issue!

Who could have picked a single pattern to review? I couldn’t! So I went for some Mommy and Me modeling. The Brook Blossom Skirt by Orange Daisy Patterns was a perfect choice. There is a girl’s pattern and a corresponding women’s pattern.

Sew, let’s start with me… (see what I did there?) The Brook Blossom Skirt for ladies features:
– size 00-20
–yoke and side zip for a smooth fit around the waist
–half-circle skirt to skim curves gracefully without adding bulk
– Learn new techniques with full instructions for french seams and rolled hem
– 3 views – knee, maxi, high/low
– includes A0 file for copyshop printing

This fabric is not technically a woven and has a little bit of stretch.  Just enough to be forgiving with my measurements and feel comfortable eating a big meal in it. I left the bottom unhemmed and did not account for my height because I was okay with the original length.

I am in love with high low skirts, shirts and just about anything so this was right up my alley!  And the zipper was super easy to install… cause I really hate zippers!

But the girls version doesn’t have a zipper! And also comes with a ton of options!  The Brook Blossom Skirt for ladies features:
– size 2-20
–elastic back with a concealed casing
–half-circle skirt for great twirl-ability
– Learn new techniques with full instructions for french seams and rolled hem
– 3 views – knee, maxi, high/low
– metric + imperial measurements

She was determined to model this one in her tennis shoes and who am I to deny her? But she is in love!

And of course… more synchronized modeling!  We are getting good at this y’all!

We only argued a little…

So now that I showed off my OT12 creations… you show off yours!  First click here to buy your copy of One Thimble Issue 12. Then head over to the One Thimble Sewing Enthusiasts group and post some pretties! I love to see them! And drop me a comment! I enjoy hearing from you all!

  1. Thankyou so much for your kind words Essence and for taking part in this tour. You’ve inspired me to have a crack at a Mummy and Me set of these too. I’ve just finished one for Kt and will have to find more fabric so I can sew on to match for me!
