Pool Side Beach Party Blog Tour

Hello everyone! I am back with some more summer fun for you guys! I know that we are all still sewing furiously for the 4th of July, but let’s not forget that July has the best weather for playing outside in the water! So welcome to my Day 6 post for the Pool Side Beach Party!

I decided to be twice as productive and use a tester that I completed for this blog tour because it turned out so cute I can’t believe it! Making swim suits is not as hard as people may think and after seeing the effect of a custom fit, I don’t think I will ever buy one again! With the Diva’s curvy body shape, it has been an eternal struggle to find a good suit that she is comfortable in and Dad approves of.  This year’s magical pattern is the Classic Maillot Swimsuit that was just released by Designs by Call Ajaire!    This one pattern has so many options it will make your eyes cross and you will find yourself running back to the store for more fabric!

This year, Bug has decided that she needs all 2 piece suits and wants to pick out all of the fabric herself.  So this striped fabric is from Hancock Fabrics (Sadly, I will miss that store) and it is a little thicker than other swimsuit fabrics I have used which makes it easier to sew through.  The pink is left over from previous years swim seasons. I made the tankini top with swim bottoms for her and she was over the moon!

Here in Washington state, there are a ton of playgrounds with spray parks around our house so when the day gets hot, we love to go get a quick splash in!  She was running and playing and nothing moved or slipped!  Success!

I love the little details of this pattern, the flounce in the front is perfect for a pop of color and the skirt of the tank covers enough to be appropriate! The fully lined bottoms fit snugly and she is comfortable in them.

And look at my stripe matching! Pretty proud of myself there!

    1. Love the fabric! The design would be prefect for my pre pre teen. She has a long torso and cant fit 1 piece suits. This suit isn’t revealing!++
The lining also will keep her modest. ☺👍❤

  1. Bug is adorable in her swimsuit and you should be tickled that she loves it too! I remember my mom making me a similar suit many years ago (made of cotton) and I wore that til it was thread-bare. Super job lining up those stripes. That’s a sign of a talented seamstress! *I will miss Hancock’s too. 😦

  2. I really like the fit on these bottoms. My daughter has been complaining about her suit riding up all summer. These definitely have good coverage. The stripes are great too!
